Who we are

The 150-hectare Monte San Giovanni farm estate, 400 metres above sea level, is managed by the Delà family and extends across four different municipalities.

Monte San Giovanni, the mount owned by the family, from which the estate takes its name, enjoys views across both the Foglia and Metauro valleys. Many centuries ago this strategic position was the site of a fortress and religious sanctuary and the spot from where, in 1223, the rector of the church of Monte San Giovanni, Rodolfo Oddone, ordered the building of the present-day convent of Beato Sante.

In the early Sixties, like many fellow Sardinians, the father of the current estate owners left his homeland for the Marche region, bringing with him the traditional sheep farming and cheese-making skills that Sardinia is so famous for.

Over the years, although the estate has seen many logistical and technological developments, it has never lost sight of its original traditions and culture.

Today the farm, enjoying a perfect climate influenced both by the Adriatic Sea and the nearby Pennines, is home to more than 600 carefully-reared Sardinian sheep that graze on the farm’s many varieties of grasses, producing fine quality milk with a unique taste all of its own.
